The remediation process
What's the difference between mold removal and mold remediation?
People use them interchangeably. Remediation is the full process: containment, removal, cleaning, the moisture fix and verification. Removal alone, with no containment, can spread spores through the house.
How long does mold remediation take?
Most residential jobs take 1 to 5 working days on site, plus time for clearance results.
Can I stay home during mold remediation?
Usually, when the work is in a crawl space, attic or sealed room under negative pressure. If work is in main living areas, or someone in the house is sensitive, plan to stay elsewhere until clearance passes.
Why do you use plastic containment?
Disturbing mold releases large numbers of spores. Sealed containment under negative pressure keeps them in the work area instead of spreading through the house.
Do you spray or fog mold?
No. Spraying or fogging doesn't remove mold growing in materials, and the IICRC S520 advises against fogging in place of source removal. Our process.
Will the mold come back?
Not if the moisture is fixed and humidity stays below about 60%. New leaks or a wet crawl space can start growth again, which is why the moisture fix is part of every job.
Testing & health
Do I need mold testing?
Not always. If you can see the mold and the cause is clear, testing doesn't change how it's removed. Testing helps when you smell mold but can't find it, for health or legal documentation, and for clearance after remediation.
Who should do clearance testing?
An independent tester, not the remediator. About clearance testing.
Can a thermal camera find mold?
It finds temperature differences that often mark wet areas, which are then confirmed with a moisture meter. It doesn't see mold directly.
Is black mold more dangerous than other mold?
Color doesn't tell you how harmful mold is. Any indoor mold growth can trigger allergy and asthma symptoms, and people with weakened immune systems face higher risk. Talk to your doctor about symptoms.
